Objectives and activities
The charity's objectives are to act as a resource for young people, who have need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances.
They will be over the age of 16+ years and have been looked after by the local authority or be 16+ years and have become homeless or in danger of becoming homeless.
We will provide advice, assistance, recreational activities and organise programmes of support to help those living in private rental, local authority accommodation or housing association accommodation to sustain their tenancies by gaining the appropriate level of independent living skills.
We aim to support young people to promote and develop life skills in the following areas:
- Education - supporting them to achieve academically and experience learning as a lifelong self-investment which is not exclusive to vocational training.
- Training and employment.
- Budgeting and money management, developing strategies to facilitate the relief of financial hardship and how to involve other agencies or organisations for further support.
- Dealing with accommodation based issues such as contacting utilities, home maintenance, repairs etc.
- Use of recreational, leisure time and positive participation in their local community.
